| 12/31/2011 | Hannah Quirk,(soon to be 6 years old) Update has lost her sight in the left eye and it seems to be permanent. She will soon be six years old. The doctor thinks that she has probably been blind in that eye since July. Please continue to pray for her. Her next MRI is January 16th. 07/21/2011 Hannah is undergoing surgery today to place a shunt to help relieve some of the pressure in her brain caused from a tumopr on the brain stem. She will start chemo and radiation soon. Please keep her and her family in your prayers as they stand with her |
| 12/4/2011 | Jana Halver (6 month old)
Jana Halver (6 month old) facing multiple surgeries for a hole in her heart; scheduled for heart cath Tuesday, 12/6 and then complex surgery Wednesday, 12/21; will be on breathing tube & possibly heart/lung machine during the surgery; parents are Scott & Norma Halver; Scott is Sally Wideman's nephew. We came to the ER on Friday evening; Jana's color was not good (a little pale and bluish in the extremities) and she wasn't eating well. We've been here since then. (Praise God that he provided us an apartment to live in that's located 1 mile from the Children's Hospital before Norma was even pregnant with Jana, certainly not knowing how "special" she would be! - so we're never far from home) Her oxygen saturation level in her blood is not where they would want it to be (she is being supplemented oxygen with a nasal cannula now) and they see no reason to put off the surgery any longer. The cardiac catheterization will be done today, Monday Dec 5 (about 5 hours from now) and the full operation will be performed on Tuesday Dec 6. All of your prayers are working. Norma got the thought last night that God made Jana so smiley (still) and happy because seeing her this way really puts us at peace. Praise God for how He has created her. Praise God also for all of the travel that's going on smoothly so far. -We were able to get a last minute ticket for Norma's mom (Tere; she is in the air over the Atlantic right now). We gave her about a 9 hour warning before she had to be at the airport with her bag packed for a month-long trip! -Scott's mom (Cheryl) got here last night as planned for the previous cardiac catheterization date and will be able to stay the whole week instead of leaving earlier. -Scott's dad (Todd) will get here as soon as he can on Wednesday from a business trip in Toronto. Please continue to pray as you all have and give thanks daily, for God is much greater than we can imagine. Love, Scott, Norma, and Jana |

Amy PFlug the anniversary of her daughter, Maddie, who had cancer and has been on our prayer site over that period of time. This Sunday will be a special Mother's Day for me. Five years ago on this date, Maddie was diagnosed with lymphoma. I am deeply grateful every day that she is cancer-free, but significant dates such as this year's make it hit home even more. Maddie is an active and healthy 7-year-old. She is finishing up first grade and has no current residual effects of her cancer treatments. Her oncologist is hopeful that after this month, she can move to once-a-year check-ups. She loves school, playing with friends, family time, swimming, reading, art projects, traveling, and animals. She is an amazing big sister to 16-month-old Sydney. We are so thankful for every year we’ve been given with her, and we especially celebrate her health and her life at this five-year anniversary mark. |
